"There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to ESCAPE, that ye may be able to bear it."
I Corinthians 10:13
Trials and temptations face us daily. Some are little ones, like passing that test that Brother Kilmon gives us or walking past that person that gets under our skin. Others, however, are big trials. Ones that shake our faith and ultimately determine our destiny. They are the ones that begin with phrases like, "There's a tumor," or "There's been an accident." They can make us or break us.
When I look back over the last six months of my life, this is a scripture that has been quoted to me often. Or should I say, misquoted. Many people like to say, "God will not put anything on you that you cannot bear." However, they leave out the part that says, "without an escape." God likes to test our faith. He puts us through trials to see if we will still choose Him. To see if we will praise Him in our storm.
But sometimes, I believe, He does put on us more than we can handle. But, He is right there with us. Always. Because He is the Everlasting Father, He never leaves us. I love that. And He will always provide us with an escape. He gives us a way out. He prepares us for the unbearable. When we experience death, or any kind of grief, He provides grace that keeps us. It allows us time to grieve, but in the midst of our grief, gives us peace.
I serve a God who loves me. Who knows my world inside and out. He knows what I can take easily. He also knows what is more difficult for me. He is there through all of it, and provides an escape from the unbearable.
Trust Him. Praise Him. Love Him. He can't go wrong.
